TRIP FOR THREE - WLI WATER FALLS

I welcome you back to my blog! I trust your week was good, as mine has been quite exhilarating and refreshing. Last weekend we took a trip to the Wli Water falls which is located on the Fodome road in the Volta Region. It’s a four and a half hour drive from Accra and just forty five minutes’ drive if you are coming from Kpando where I stay. This time I wasn’t alone, Maukko Maukko of Morzorla reached out to me and asked to go on a TRIP FOR THREE. I was more than excited to get them on this trip and we had so much fun together.

THE ATTRACTION

The Wli water falls is a nice tourist attraction which boasts of beautiful greenery, African sculptures on sale and the much talked about water fall. After filling in your details at the reception, the first shop you see is a sculpture shop. Sculptures of Masks, symbolic crafts, African gods and for fun, penis-like openers (lol) yes please…exactly how I said it.

You now take a long walk through the greenery canopies created by the tall trees feeling the temperature change as you go, first it’s hot, then it gets cool then it gets humid then hot again. I would advise a tan top or a shirt that’s quite light when visiting the Wli water fall. You cross a couple of bridges and streams till you finally arrive at the sparkling water fall. At the top of the hill where the water gushes out, you can find bat caves which house about a thousand bats but don’t let that spoil your fan, they never come down the water fall and you’d never find one that would swoop down to pick on you or anything. They stay high above in their bat caves only coming out to feed.

HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU BUDGET?

At the reception you are expected to pay an amount of Ghc15 per person before entry, it is also optional to pay another Ghc20 for a guide to take you to the water fall. If you feel you can find the water fall on your own then you are at liberty to go by yourself.

Every other expenditure depends on you. The African sculptures are available for purchase and can go for as little as Ghc10 or as high as Ghc200. I’d advise you bring a meal along if you intend to stay for a long while as there are no walk in restaurants on the site, just shops where water and snacks are available for purchase.
